Nänikon, Zurich, Switzerland : 1729
The broad outline of the Braschler family begins in a small Swiss town called Nänikon, in the canton of Zurich near the east shore of the Greifensee. It is here that Heinrich Braschler was born in 1729, and here that he married Anna Müller in 1752. Hans Heinrich, the seventh of their nine children, was baptized in the Uster parish of the Evangelical Reformed Church on July 21, 1767.
These are the earliest ancestors of our branch of the Braschler family that I have been able to identify. It’s been said that the Braschler family was a large and old Swiss family dating back to the 13th century. The earliest I have found them is in the early 1500s in the province of Zurich, but by 1850 they had spread throughout Switzerland.
